Queen duo to play Mandela gig

May and Taylor feature at birthday gig for South African statesman

Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor are set to play at a concert in London to mark Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday.

The gig is being held to raise awareness of Mandela’s 46664 HIV Aids campaign, set up to help people fight the disease.

May and Taylor helped found the campaign in 2003 alsongside Dave Stewart and Bono.

The concert is due to be held on June 27, 2008.

The 46664 campaign takes its name from the prison number Mandela was assigned during his 18-year-sentence on Robben Island in South Africa.

Bono and Beyonce headlined the first concert in South Afica in November 2003, reports BBC News.

What a bunch of hypocritical scumbags. They played Sun City at the height of the anti-apartheid campaigns and now seek publicity as Mandela-supporters years after the racist system has been overturned.
