Queens Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme: 'I died on a hospital table'

Frontman reveals he had complications during surgery last year

Queens Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme has told NME that he "died" in hospital last year due to complications during surgery.

The frontman, speaking in the new issue of NME, on UK newsstands now or available digitally, said that he went under the knife in 2010 to have a knee problem treated, but something went wrong.

"I had an operation and died and survived on the table," he said. "I had surgery on my leg and there were complications and I died on the table. I was in bed for three months."

Homme said that he got cleared by doctors in mid-December to get back involved with normal life again, and this month has started work on the band's new studio album.

The new record will be the first Queens Of The Stone Age album since 2007's 'Era Vulgaris'. "We're all just waiting to show each other all the ideas we've got," the singer/guitarist said. "Everybody's trying to outdo each other with their iPod right now…"
