R Kelly trial: Day Four

The day ends with no new jurors selected

No new jurors were selected today (May 14) as the third day of jury questioning in R Kelly's pornography trial came to an end.

The panel, which will eventually be made up of 12 jurors and four alternates, currently consists of five men and three women selected over the past two days. As it stands, the jury is split evenly between black and white members.

Although no picks were officially selected today, two prospective jurors, a recent college grad and a man vaguely familiar with the singer's career, are likely to make the panel, reports the Chicago Tribune.

Those dismissed today include a man who said he considered Kelly a paedophile and a woman who said she believed Kelly was "not very smart".

Kelly, who has been present during the questioning at Chicago's Cook County Courthouse, reportedly appeared to be hurt by her remark.

Kelly faces child pornography charges for allegedly videotaping himself having sex with a minor some time between 1998 and 2000.

If Kelly is found guilty of the charges, he could face up to 15 years in prison.

The Grammy-winning artist is due to release a new album in July.
