R Kelly jury reach a verdict

Jurors make a decision after less than a day of deliberations

The jury in the R Kelly child pornography trial have reportedly reached a verdict after less than a day of deliberations.

Closing arguments in the case ended yesterday afternoon (June 12) and the jury have already come to a decision, which Judge Vincent Gaughan is scheduled to read later today, reports the Chicago Tribune.

The verdict came shortly after two jurors asked to be excused from the trial because of personal and family issues. Gaughan reviewed their requests but respectfully refused to excuse them, saying that the case was too important.

Kelly is charged with 14 counts of videotaping, producing or soliciting child pornography. If convicted, he could face up to 15 years in prison.
