Mark Ronson, Zane Lowe, Jessica Ennis pay tribute to Chris Moyles as he departs Radio 1

Mark Ronson, Zane Lowe and Olympic champion Jessica Ennis have all paid tribute to Chris Moyles as he left the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show today (September 14).

Ronson actually credited Moyles for turning his career around, tweeting: "Dear Chris Moyles, I will be forever grateful for the morning that you played all those songs off of 'Version' and turned it around for me."

Zane Lowe thanked Moyles and praised him for "years of amazing radio". He wrote: "Thanks Chris Moyles and the whole crew for years of amazing radio!"

British Olympic champion Jessica Ennis also paid tribute to the DJ, tweeting: "It's so sad its the last Chris Moyles show on Radio One! Will miss you guys! Hope you have a few tonight." TV pair Ant and Dec did the same, writing: "End of an era. Great job team. You will be missed in the mornings."

Alesha Dixon also spoke highly of the DJ, writing: "It is the end of an era! Chris I salute you!", as did JLS, who wrote: "Thank you for all the love and support over the years!"

Nick Grimshaw, who takes over from Moyles on Monday (September 17), also wished him well, writing: "Chris Moyles! I will miss you in the morning! P.S Leave the instruction manual on the desk."

Moyles himself thanked the listeners profusely, writing: "That was a brilliant last show. Thanks for all the messages (last count was 150,000) Thanks to the team, Radio 1 and to all for listening."

Next month, Moyles will be touring the country with a full live band. The shows are set to last 80 minutes and will feature a live band, games involving audience participation and a live question and answer session.

The tour begins at Birmingham's O2 Academy on October 14 and runs until October 24 when it finishes up at Manchester's Academy. The run also includes stops in London, Sheffield, Newcastle, Liverpool, Bournemouth, Leeds and Bristol.
