Radio 1 DJ death - no charges to be made

No-one will be prosecuted over the death of former BBC Radio 1 DJ Kevin Greening, according to police.

An initial post-mortem on the DJ was inconclusive, but further toxicology tests have revealed he died from a drug overdose.

The presenter was found dead by police at a flat in Wandsworth, south London on December 29.

A man who was arrested at the residence has been cautioned for drug possession, but there will be no further charges, reports BBC News.

At the time of his death, Greening was a presenter on London's Smooth Radio.

A police spokesman said: "We can confirm that, following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, no charges will be brought regarding responsibility for the death of Kevin Greening.

"A 51-year-old man who was arrested at the time has been cautioned for possession of Class A substances - cocaine and ecstasy - and a Class C substance, cannabis."

Greening hosted a number of weekend shows, and was a regular stand-in on daytime slots, before moving to the breakfast show - where he was partnered with Zoe Ball.

An inquest into his death will take place at Westminster Coroner's Court on 3 June.
