Radiohead reveal work on new song
Thom Yorke posts lyrics online
Radiohead have given an insight into their studio work with a new online post.
Writing on the Radiohead.com, frontman Thom Yorke explained the band had written a new song called ‘Rubbernecks’.
“Back into work again after very quick break contending with the usual winter illnesses and fevers - which are still messing with things,” wrote Yorke. “Jonny’s stepping over guitar leads and pedals and laptop as we demo yet another new tune added to the blackboard called 'Rubbernecks'. At the moment its a demo. When is a demo not a demo? When its in time. Whats in time?”
Yorke also gave a hint of the songs music direction explaining, “Im asking Jonny to lay off the sweet rock and stick to the sticklebrick licks.”
The singer also posted the lyrics for the new song the first verse of which runs:
“Their dotting all the tees/ and crossing their eyes/ welcome to the future/ it opened up my eyes/ its creeping up the car park/ its coming up the drive/ rubbernecks with cameras/ petrol and bonfires”
He added that the chorus – “the loud bit” - goes “we need to keep away the rubbernecks”.
Yorke concluded his post by explaining the house where they were working was haunted, explaining “its another normal day in the world of radioheadski”, Ateaseweb.com reports.
