Radiohead have played their first UK festival since Glastonbury 2003 and performed a greatest hits set, including the classic single 'Creep', at V Festival in Chelmsford tonight (August 19).

The band, who headlined the V Stage, played a set heavy on tracks from the albums 'The Bends', 'OK Computer' and 'Kid A'. But they also found the time to play three new songs from their forthcoming LP, due next year.

But it was the rarely performed 'Creep', which closed the set, that proved the highlight, leading to a mass singalong. And another massive crowd pleaser was the 1995 single 'Just', the song Radiohead fans voted as the tune they most wanted to hear in this week's NME cover story.

The new songs played were 'Bodysnatchers', 'Nude' and 'All I Need', which were all performed on the band's European 'club' tour earlier this year.

Apart from gigs at Glastonbury Festival in 1997 and 2003, Radiohead have shied away from playing mainstream festivals in Britain. However, speaking recently to NME.COM, singer Thom Yorke said they fancied playing after seeing Franz Ferdinand and Dizzee Rascal's sets at this event last year.

Yorke also said the set was an opportunity for the band to remind themselves of their past, and the set certainly delivered.

Radiohead played:

'Airbag'
'2+2=5'
'The National Anthem'
'My Iron Lung'
'You And Whose Army?'
'Bodysnatchers'
'The Bends'
'Nude'
'No Surprises'
'The Gloaming'
'Paranoid Android'
'All I Need'
'Pyramid Song'
'Lucky'
'Just'
'Idioteque'
'Street Spirit (Fade Out)'
'A Wolf At The Door'
'There There'
'Karma Police'
'True Love Waits/Everything In Its Right Place'
'Creep'
