Band are letting fans choose how much to spend on 'In Rainbows'

Radiohead are set to release a new album next week (October 10) and they’re letting you choose how much to pay for it.

As previously reported, ‘In Rainbows’ will be available as a download from Radiohead.COM, but crucially fans can choose how much they want to pay for the record when they pre-order it.

So how much do you think the new Radiohead album is worth? We want you to tell us how much you have spent, or would spend on the album and why?

Simply send your comment plus you name and age to news@nme.com with Radiohead in the subject line, and we’ll publish your comments on NME.COM later today (October 10).

You can now
get a sneak preview of what the new Radiohead album sounds like
on the NME Office Blog.

Plus find out on NME.COM whether 'In Rainbows' will be chart eligible and what the music industry’s reaction is to Radiohead’s unique release.

Again, this is Radiohead showing how far ahead they are in terms of their approach to music/ the industry/ publicity etc. This almost seems to be them acknowledging that they are more than comfortable financially, they are now creatively free - and they're taking advantage of these things, rather than just trundling on for decades, not changing the formula, not challenging anything, as most huge major-label bands do. Well done, Radiohead!

Some people seem to be missing the fact that if you buy the discbox version you get the download free. So I would be paying £40, which I am more than happy to do to get the album on both CD and vinyl - I can't f**king wait.

This 'pay-what-you-think-its-worth' idea is really cool though. It nicely highlights the fact that people will be filesharing it anyway, so its almost like an honesty box, where you pay what you can spare and get a legal download.

Never thought we'd get a double album out of them though. Roll on 10 October.

Many of these songs have been kicking around for ages, and the live tracks have been on repeat on my iPod for what feels like forever. I am so happy with how they've released this I can't even begin to explain. Perfect. Although I suspect the double album means maybe it's their last, I am still in awe and adoration of their work, in music, and also for their fans.

To be honest before I commit to naming a price I need to know if I can download artwork or anything with it, what the bit rate is and whether this is a restricted file or not. Does any one have these answers?
