Radiohead's Thom Yorke rubbishes suggestion that music's future is on the internet

Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke has rubbished reports that the band are solely concerned with internet downloads.

In an interview with the BBC Radio 4 Today programme this morning (January 2), the lead singer downplayed the rise in digital tracks, despite the band originally releasing album 'In Rainbows' solely as download in October.

Explaining the reasons behind the CD release on December 31, the singer explained that "80 per-cent of people still buy physical records so we’d be stark raving mad to not address that, you know?"

Continuing to defend their decision to release new record 'In Rainbows' in physical CD format, Yorke continued "We didn’t want it to be a big announcement about 'Everything’s over except the internet... the internet’s the future.' Utter rubbish. It's really important to have an artefact as well, as they call it: an object."
