Radiohead 93 Feet East gig: band admit to last-minute nerves

Radiohead have admitted that they suffered a few pangs of nerves before they played their secret gig in London earlier this week (January 16).

The gig attracted more than 1,500 fans to London’s Brick Lane, all hoping to see their band in intimate surroundings.

The band revealed that the last minute venue change from the Rough Trade East record shop to the 93 Feet East venue was a little nerve-inducing for all concerned.

Speaking as they filled in for Zane Lowe on Radio 1 lead singer Thom Yorke said: "The nerve-wracking bit was being shut down by the police but we found a different venue."

"We were going to do it in Rough Trade East” he added, “but it got a bit out of hand and they shut us down."

Although the gig suffered a two-hour delay, the band graced fans with a live rendition of new album ’In Rainbows’ in its entirety.

Yorke admitted: "The great thing was that everybody just looked really shocked. They looked shocked, we looked shocked. We were all just looking at each other thinking: ‘Is this really happening?'"
