Radiohead gear up for 'green performance'

The band will play eco-friendly gig on US talk show

Radiohead have announced that they will give a "green performance" on US talk show 'Late Night with Conan O'Brien' later this week.

The band are set to perform 'House Of Cards' from their recent album 'In Rainbows' on the popular late-night NBC television programme on Wednesday (April 23).

Rather than flying across the Atlantic to tape the one-off performance, the band have opted to record it at their London studio to reduce their carbon footprint, which frontman Thom Yorke noted avoids leaving a carbon footprint equivalent to driving one's car for a solid year.

Their performance is part of talkshow host O'Brien's contribution to NBC's "Green Week" of environmentally conscious programming.

i do hope that thom is aware that the plane will probably fly to america anyway. and now with 5 less people on it. so, inadvertantly, he has increased the carbon footprint of everyone else on the plane, considering the energy used will now be divided between less people. not very considerate.

you're a fool you dont divide it by the amount of people on the plane, radiohead themselves wont be making an impact. its not like the plane will make more or less of and impact if they are on it or not. so you and radiohead are wrong. but at least they promote the idea :)

The plane will fly, with less people on it soooo using less fuel. Tiny difference but difference all the same. Power to Thom Yorke at least somebody cares!

5 people less? A few more than that. What about all their crew? And all their equipment? If other people thought the same way there might be one less plane flying that day, then two less the next day and so on...
