Thom Yorke stars in advertising campaign

Radiohead frontman appears on US TV to plug award ceremony

Radiohead's Thom Yorke is fronting a new advertisement campaign to promote this year's Grammy Awards.

Yorke, along with other stars including Stevie Wonder, Rihanna and Lenny Kravitz, is appearing on posters and in TV adverts in the run up to the ceremony, which takes place in February.

Coldplay and Kanye West are also rumoured to be featured in the campaign.

Although Yorke's TV advert is yet to air, his poster has been made public. It features a mock-up of the Radiohead singer's face, shaped out of text featuring the names and lyrics of some of his favourite songs, albums and artists.

A Grammy spokeswoman said that each musician taking part in the campaign was asked to name between 10 and 20 of their favourite artists. These names then formed the basis of the posters and TV adverts. Among the artists chosen by Yorke are Liars and Scott Walker.

The 51st Annual Grammy Awards take place on February 8 in Los Angeles.

Radiohead's 'In Rainbows' is nominated in the Album Of The Year category, alongside Coldplay ('Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends'), Robert Plant & Alison Krauss ('Raising Sand'), Ne-Yo ('Year Of The Gentleman') and Lil Wayne ('Tha Carter III').

The advertising campaign is rumoured to be the biggest in the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences history, reports LA Times. It comes a year after the Grammys suffered their lowest TV ratings since 1992.
