Radiohead have been chosen as the musical guests for the opening episode of the 37th series of Saturday Night Live.

As reported by USA Today, the band are set to make their second appearance ever on the sketch/improv show. Their first performance came in 2000 while promoting 'Kid A'.

This time around the band will be promoting their latest album, The King of Limbs. The record came out in February, but as yet the five-piece haven't toured to promote it.

Saturday Night Live is famous for its celebrity guest presenters. For the show in which Radiohead are set to play, Alec Baldwin will be the host. It marks his 16th appearance, a record for the programme.

The second week of the new series will see Bridesmaids actress Melissa McCarthy host, with music coming from Lady Antebellum.

Last week, Radiohead announced the release of a two-disc remix album of tracks from 'The King Of Limbs' .

The season opener of Saturday Night Live, featuring Radiohead, will air on Saturday September 24.
