Punk-disco stars The Rapture played a benefit gig at New York venue Crash Mansion last night (June 11).

Billed as ‘Druzzi’s Wyld Stallyns (Ex-DFA)’, the band played the 400-capacity venue to raise money for a friend's, Chris Schorb, treatment for brain cancer.

Coming on stage at midnight, the band showcased five new upbeat songs, including new fan favourite 'WAYUH'.

The Rapture also played classics like 'House of Jealous Lovers', 'Heaven' and 'Sister Saviour'.

The Rapture meanwhile are currently working on the follow-up to 2003’s ‘Echoes’ and have recorded some of the album with Gnarls Barkley member and Gorillaz producer Danger Mouse in LA.

Bloc Party collaborator Paul Epworth and Franz Ferdinand remixer Ewan Pearson have also produced tracks for the album that due out this autumn.

"We’re ready for this thing to come out and I think people are ready to hear it," bassist Mattie Saffer told NME.COM. "We’ve been in the studio so we’re busting our arses to get the album finished as soon as possible and get it out."
