RAZORLIGHT UNVEIL NEW DRUMMER

The band reveal who has replaced Christian Smith-Pancorvo...

Razorlight have unveiled their new drummer.

The band have been auditioning for a new sticksman following the departure of Christian Smith-Pancorvo, who left the group last month. As previously reported on NME.COM, he said that being in the band was affecting his health and conflicting with his stringent lifestyle regime.

Now they have hired Andy Burrows, who will make his debut at a secret gig next week (May 26).

A statement from the band reads: "After spending 18.5 hours, auditioning 62 drummers, going through 130 pairs of sticks, 80 cans of lager, many pints of sweat, tears and heartbreak Razorlight are very proud to announce they found their drummer.

"Replacing Christian Smith-Pancorvo will be Andy Burrows. Andy arrived at The Depot rehearsal studios two hours early for his audition slot on Saturday. But from the minute he arrived it was clear that he was a contender. Razorlight and their manager would like to thank everyone who came down. The standard of drumming was extremely high and both band and management were impressed and touched by the time and dedication all the drummers showed.

"However Andy just had a vibe about him, he seemed very easy going and the minute he got behind the kit it became glaringly obvious that he had 'it'. "

Frontman Johnny Borrell added: "When Andy walked in I realised that I had actually seen him a few years ago at a gig at The Joiners Arms in Southampton. I can't remember the band, but I do remember thinking that Andy was fantastic. He shone out of the band he was playing with at the time. He is a one in a million drummer."
