The band preview new songs at intimate Winchester gig

Razorlight play tiny pub show

Razorlight played a rare intimate gig in Winchester last night and treated fans to sneak preview of tracks been considered for their second album (December 8).

Taking to the stage at The Railway - the former local pub of drummer Andy Burrows - the band tore into a frantic set in front of just over 100 people.

The group – who are currently working on the follow up to last year’s debut album ‘Up All Night’ – played a trio of new songs during the gig including ‘Back To The Start’, ‘The Pilot’ and ‘Can’t Stop This Feeling’.

With the stage decorated with tinsel and Christmas lights, and roadies dressed as Father Christmas, Razorlight were clearly in a festive mood even performing a medley of the Blondie and Culture Club tracks ‘The Tide Is High’ and ‘Karma Chameleon’.

“We've been listening to a lot of good music lately,” explained frontman Johnny Borrell of the surpirse inclusions.

The band played:

‘Rip It Up’
‘Bright Lights’
‘Vice’
‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Lies’
‘Which Way Is Out’
‘Golden Touch’
‘Back To The Start’
‘The Pilot’
‘To The Sea’
‘Can’t Stop This Feeling’
‘Somewhere Else’
‘Stumble And Fall’
‘The Tide Is High’/‘Karma Chameleon’
‘Fall, Fall, Fall’/‘Milk’
‘In The City’

Despite the small crowd, Razorlight enjoyed several boisterous sing-a-longs, with Borrell telling the audience: “It’s been brilliant coming here tonight and playing this little place.”

Razorlight now head to Cardiff for tomorrow's (December 10) Noise And Confusion gig with Oasis and Foo Fighters at the Millennium Stadium.

For a report from the show see next week's NME out nationwide on December 14.
