Razorlight record 'Sgt Pepper' track without Johnny
Drummer does 'a Ringo' for Beatles tribute
Razorlight are among the bands to have marked the birthday of ’Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ with a special re-recording of the album, which is 40 years-old today (June 1).
However singer Johnny Borrell stood down for the Radio 2 session allowing the rest of the band - Bjorn Agren, Carl Dalemo and Andy Burrows - to take the lead.
Burrows followed in fellow drummer Ringo Starr’s footsteps and sang lead vocals on ’With A Little Help From My Friends’.
As previously reported the band are one of many covering songs from The Beatles ’Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ to mark the 40th anniversary of the classic album’s release.
Oasis and Kaiser Chiefs are also taking part. You can hear ’Side One’ of the project on Radio 2 tomorrow (June 2).
For a exclusive studio shot of the band recording the song, get this week's issue of NME, on UK newsstands now.
