Razorlight and 'Mighty Boosh''s favourite pub will reopen
Hawley Arms set to rise from the ashes of Camden fire
The London boozer was severely damaged in the blaze that spread through the area’s market at the weekend (February 9), prompting speculation it may have to be pulled down.
However speaking to Xfm, landlady Ruth Mottram has declared the building will not be demolished and its doors will reopen soon.
“It's really bad and unfortunately at the moment we don't have an exact timescale but I think it will be about six months before we open again,” she said. “The whole thing's totally shocking for everybody but we have to stay positive and put all our energies into reopening as soon as possible."
In the meantime, they are hoping that the pub’s customers will use their other pub, The Wilmington Arms in nearby Farringdon, while The Hawley Arms is repaired, explaining that the other boozer will host a little tribute to the Camden watering hole.
She explained: "We'll be creating a wall with all the salvaged rock memorabilia (much of which was taken by NME photographer Andy Willsher) which used to adorn The Hawley's wall to keep the spirit alive."
