Razorlight premiere new album at BBC Electric Proms show Razorlight Tickets

And afterwards Johnny Borrell talks to NME.COM

Razorlight headlined the fourth day of the BBC Electric Proms festival last night (October 25) - and premiered their new album 'Slipway Fires' in full at Liverpool's Philharmonic Hall .

Despite being in a seated venue, the crowd sprung to their feet upon the opening track 'Golden Touch' and remained so, singing and dancing up until the set closer 'Rip It Up'.

As well as reeling off previous hits such as 'Somewhere Else' and 2006 UK Number One single 'America’, the band previewed their forthcoming album 'Slipway Fires' in its entirety.

'Burberry Blue Eyes' prompted dancing from the crowd, while the more sensitive songs such as 'The House' and 'Monster Boots' were also wildly received by the capacity crowd.

Speaking to NME.COM later, frontman Johnny Borrell explained why the band had been eager to perform at the event.

He said: "We play intimate gigs like this because when people come to see Razorlight we really want them to feel that they're get something special, not just any old band."

Borrell expressed delight at the crowd’s rapturous response to the gig.

He admitted: "It was an amazing reaction. There was such energy in the crowd."

Another couple of calssic quotes from Mr Borrell, he really is an infuriating wee wanker, I'll never understand why he thinks him and band are so good, they're terrible, I suppose they'd appeal to teenage girls and Snow Patrol fans...
