Pete Wentz also pay tribute to the last year's War On Emo

Fall Out Boy performed a special covers set at the Carling Weekend: Leeds Festival this evening (August 24).

Pete Wentz and co whipped up the crowd for a 40-minute show which included Akon's hit single 'Nobody Wants To See Us Together' along with classic songs by Michael Jackson and Huey Lewis And The News.

As the five-piece launched into Akon's single, bassist Wentz drew reference to last year's War On Emo.

"How many of you guys saw us in Leeds last year?" he quipped. "We thought the War On Emo was pretty funny at the time. So we thought we'd play this next song in honour of that."

During the show the band blasted through a host of tracks from their back catalogue, the highlights of which included 'Sugar We're Going Down' and 'This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race'.

Midway through the gig, Wentz drew huge cheers when he declared: "This is probably our favourite song in the world. So when we play it we want to hear you scream," as the band tore into Michael Jackson classic 'Beat It'.

Later as the band burst into 'The Power Of Love' the 1985 hit by Huey Lewis And The News, he added: "We have great memories every time we play over here and you always give us plenty of love. Are you feeling the love? How about 'The Power Of Love'?"

In a similar vein to last year's performance, Wentz urged both sides of the audience to throw bottles at each other at the end, which resulted in hail of bottles flying across the arena.

Fall Out Boy played:

'Thriller'
'Where Is Your Boy?'
'Nobody Wants To See Us Together'
'Sugar We're Going Down'
'Hum Hallelujah'
'Beat It'
'the Carpal'
'This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race'
'Thanks For The Memories'
'One And Only'
'Dance Dance'
'The Power Of Love'
'Saturday'
