Tokyo Police Club ended their festival run at Carling Weekend: Reading tonight (August 24), with a stellar performance on the Carling Stage in front of a crowd so up for it that it almsot overwhelmed the band.
Speaking to NME.COM after the show, singer Dave Monks admitted that although the band was relieved to be playing their final European festival of the summer, they were buoyed up by the raucous crowd.
"Honestly, we were looking forward to playing our last festival over here," he said backstage, "but it was the best show we've played in ages. The crowd was amazing. We loved it!" he explained.
Keyboardist Graham Wright had a minor injury during the show when his hand started to bleed after some particularly rigorous tambourine action, and called for a band-aid from backstage. However, he thrashed his way through a further two songs before a plaster was produced.
Tokyo Police Club played:
'Cheer It On'
'Elephant Shell'
'If It Works'
'Your English Is Good'
'Cut Cut Paste'
'The Harrowing Adventure'
'Of'
'Nursery Academy'
'Citizens Of Tomorrow'
'Shoulders And Arms'
'La Ferrassie'
'Nature Of The Experiment'
'Famous'
'Be Good'
