Red Hot Chili Peppers score first US number one LP

'Stadium Arcadium' is a best seller

have scored a US Number One album for the first time in their 22-year career.

The double LP 'Stadium Arcadium' sold 442,000 copies in the first week of its release Stateside - nearly double the debut seven- day sales of 2002’s 'By The Way'.

The album is the Chilli’s ninth studio effort, and the band have also scored their ninth Number One on Billboard’s Modern Rock chart – the most by any artist – with the record’s lead single, 'Dani California'.

'Stadium Arcadium' debuted at Number One in the British album chart on Sunday.

Red Hot Chili Peppers are set to hit the UK this summer with the dates running:
