The Big Apple is considered a possible host

The US leg of Al Gore’s ‘Live Earth’ concerts could possibly be held in New York, according to reports.

Concerts are to be held worldwide on July 7 to raise awareness for climate change, and the US leg was originally planned to take place at the National Mall in Washington DC.

However, as previously reported here, Gore ran into difficulties when it transpired the location had two previous bookings.

Now locations including Brooklyn’s Prospect Park, Randall’s Island and Shea Stadium in Queens are all being considered as possible hosts for the event which will see Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, Fall Out Boy and perform for a crowd of around 40,000 people.
