Red Hot Chili Peppers performed a cover of Neil Young's 'Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere' at a free comeback show in London tonight (September 2).

The LA punk funk veterans threw the 1969 track in midway through their Radio 1 set at KOKO as bassist Flea told the crowd: "I was in my hotel room messing with this Neil Young song the other night. We're going to play it tonight so there you have it."

Following the cover he also joked: "That was fun as fuck," before singer Anthony Kiedis interjected: "He's talking scientifically. Scientifically speaking that was pretty amazing."

The band, who were joined by new guitarist and former Warpaint man Josh Klinghoffer, also showcased seven new tracks from their new LP 'I'm With You' including recent single 'The Adventures Of Rain Dance Maggie'. Klinghoffer replaced longtime bandmember John Frusciante, who quit for a second time in 2009.

But the biggest cheers came for the Chili Peppers hit singles 'Can’t Stop', 'Californication' and 'By The Way'.

Wrapping up the show, drummer Chad Smith performed an extended drum solo during the encore before both Flea and Klinghoffer joined in the jam. The whole band then launched into 'She’s Only 18' before ending the show with Chili Peppers classic 'Give It Away'.

Red Hot Chili Peppers played:

'Monarchy Of Roses'
'Can’t Stop'
'Ethiopia'
'Charlie'
'Meet Me At The Corner'
'Factory Of Faith'
'Throw Away Your Television'
'Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere'
'The Adventures Of Rain Dance Maggie'
'Me & My Friends'
'Skinny Sweaty Man'
'Look Around'
'Californication'
'Goodbye Hooray'
'Soul To Squeeze'
'By The Way'
'She’s Only 18'
'Give It Away'
