REM
The fab four get together to play live
The original line-up of REM are to reunite to celebrate their induction into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame on September 16.
Drummer Bill Berry, who quit in 1997, will get back behind the kit for three songs when the band is inducted in the ceremony in Atlanta, reports Billboard.
The remaining original members – singer Michael Stipe, guitarist Peter Buck and bassist Mike Mills – have reunited with Berry before, most recently in April when they performed a version of ‘Country Feedback’ from the 1991 album ‘Out Of Time’ at a show by Buck's other band The Minus 5 in their native Athens, Georgia earlier this year.
REM will return to the studio later this year to begin work on the follow-up to 2004’s ‘Around The Sun’. In the meantime, a compilation CD and DVD of the band’s best moments from their early years called ‘And I Feel Fine – The Best Of The IRS Years’ is released on September 11.
