REM resume European tour in Austria

The band mix classics with new tracks at Frequency Festival

REM kicked off the second leg of their 2008 European tour at the Salzburg Frequency Festival in Austria last night (August 14).

The band, returning after a two-week break, played a 23-song set at the bash, including six songs from their new album 'Accelerate', released in March. These included the singles 'Supernatural Superserious', 'Hollow Man' and 'Man-Sized Wreath'.

Big hits played included set opener 'What's The Frequency, Kenneth?', 'Losing My Religion', 'The One I Love' and closer 'Man On The Moon'.

When introducing a version of 'West Of The Fields', from their 1983 debut album 'Murmur', frontman Michael Stipe joked to the crowd: "This song came out in 1971."
