REM man curates two new compilations

REM's Peter Buck is curating two compilation box sets to mark Merge Records' 20th anniversary.

The guitarist has teamed up with 'Junebug' director Phil Morrisson to put together the first two volumes of the subscription-only box set 'Score! The First 20 Years of Merge Records'.

The first two volumes will kick off a series of 14 custom-curated compilations spanning the Merge Records catalog, each featuring the curators' handpicked selections as well as original artwork and special packaging.

Merge is an independent record label based in North Carolina whose roster has included Arcade Fire, Superchunk, Teenage Fanclub, Conor Oberst, Spoon, Buzzcocks and Dinosaur Jr.

Box set pre-orders will begin on September 8, and proceeds will go toward charities chosen by the curators.
