US rapper faces attempted murder charge

Remy Ma is also arrested on assault and gun possession charges

Grammy nominated US rapper Remy Ma has been arrested on charges of attempted murder.

The singer reported to New York police for questioning after a woman was shot in the Meatpacking district of the city. She has also been arrested on charges of assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

Remy Ma was arrested after police were alerted to an emergency call in the area, which led them to a woman who had suffered a gunshot wound.

Officers later found a luxury SUV owned by the rapper three streets away, which had been involved in a crash and abandoned.

She had earlier been spotted at a New York nightclub.

The 23-year-old victim, Makeda Barnes-Joseph, was taken to hospital where she remains in a stable condition, reports BBC News.

Remy Ma was nominated for a Grammy with the Terror Squad for their 2004 US hit single 'Lean Back'.
