Ashcroft plays festival show in Northampton
The Verve's Richard Ashcroft played a solo acoustic show last night (August 25) at the Last Days Of Summer festival in Northampton, covering 'Working Class Hero' by John Lennon as part of his set.
The gig took place the day his band, The Verve, released new album 'Forth' - though he included no tracks from that record in the set.
As well as the aforementioned short cover Ashcroft Verve classics including 'Bitter Sweet Symphony' as well as solo songs such as his 2000 debut 'A Song For The Lovers'.
The festival was held on the grounds of a private school, Stowe School, prompting the singer/guitarist to reminisce onstage about his own school days. "We used to use shiny toilet paper for tracing paper," he joked during his set.
