Singer involved in smash after ceremony

Rihanna was involved in a car crash just a few hours after winning the Grammy Awards' best Rap/Sung Collaboration prize for her single 'Umbrella' on Sunday (February 10) .

After leaving the Def Jam aftershow party in Los Angeles, the singer got into her car and was immediately involved in a smash with another vehicle.

Fortunately, neither Rihanna and the driver of the other vehicle were hurt in the minor collision.

A statement issued by Rihanna’s spokesperson explained: “Rihanna was inside her car outside the Island Def Jam party when another vehicle rammed into it. Fortunately no one was injured.”

The Shockwaves NME Awards 2008 are coming soon – and it’s time to have your say. Vote now by heading to NME.COM/awardsvote and you could win VIP tickets to the ceremony, which takes place in London on February 28.
