Rihanna has had a gun tattooed on her ribcage, just weeks after she was allegedly beaten by boyfriend Chris Brown in Los Angeles.

The 'Disturbia' singer flew New York-based tattoo artist BangBang to Los Angeles for the job, and reportedly had him draw two guns at the top of her arms.

However, according to BangBang’s MySpace page, they agreed that he would tattoo the gun on her ribcage, so as not to jeopardise her sponsorship deal with Cover Girl cosmetics.

"I really wanted to put it here ... She loved 'em. But, Cover Girl wouldn’t have liked it much... and they pay the bills!" he captioned one photograph of the singer, displaying the two drawn guns.

He also uploaded a picture of the actual tattoo, which he captioned “ended up doing it on her ribs...”

Chris Brown is to be arraigned April 6 on two felony charges relating to the alleged assault on February 8.
