Rihanna's father says she and Chris Brown 'make the perfect couple'
'Everybody has to put the past behind them,' says 'Talk That Talk' star's dad
Speaking to Grazia magazine, the 'Talk That Talk' star's dad Ronald Fenty said that people "should put the past behind them" and claimed that Brown had "matured a lot" since their high-profile split in 2009.
The singer caused controversy when she teamed up with Brown for a remix of her track 'Birthday Cake' earlier this year, three years after he attacked her on the eve of the 2009 Grammy Awards and was subsequently sentenced to five years of probation and six months of community labour.
But Fenty said: "Chris has matured a lot. I think everybody has to put the past behind them. And they seem to have done that. Being a couple is all up to her."
Every decision is her decision. I just wish her the best. I hope things will work out. Everyone is entitled to make a mistake. Her fans are hoping it will happen. They see them as a perfect couple.
Despite her father's public show of support, Rihanna's association with Brown has drawn criticism from some quarters – in recent months, both her former church pastor and domestic violence experts have warned the singer not to become too close to her former flame.
Rihanna, however, claimed last month (June 6) that she didn't think working with Brown would be a problem, and has also insisted that her personal relationship with the singer is a private matter.
