Video footage shows Rihanna 'hitting fan' in Birmingham - watch

The singer was performing at the city's LG Arena gig on Tuesday (June 18)

Footage of what looks like Rihanna hitting a fan with her microphone has been revealed online.

The incident took place in Birmingham, where Rihanna was performing the second of two gigs this week at the LG Arena. The pop star's performance on Tuesday night (June 18). In the footage, which you can see above, Rihanna is seen performing in the front row of the audience before seeming to take a swipe at a fan.

The Birmingham incident happened on the same day it was announced that Rihanna has overtaken Justin Bieber as the most viewed artist on YouTube.

The Bajan popstar overtook Bieber yesterday (June 18) with a massive 3.784 billion views of her videos, roughly two million more than the Canadian teen singer. The third most viewed artist on the video streaming site is Psy, with 3.1 billion views. Eminem is in fourth place with 2.4 billion views, while Lady Gaga follows the rapper with 2.25 billion views and Shakira is next up with 2 billion.

One date remains on the UK leg of Rihanna's 'Unapologetic' world tour with the singer set to appear at Sunderland's Stadium of Light tomorrow (June 20).
