Rihanna on Taylor Swift: ‘She’s a role model, I’m completely not’

Pop singer tells NME she does not think a live collaboration would be a good match

Rihanna says that she would not feel comfortable joining Taylor Swift for an onstage collaboration.

Swift’s current ‘1989’ world tour has seen the singer joined by a host of big name guests, including St Vincent, Beck, The Weeknd, Little Mix, Wiz Khalifa, Alanis Morissette and Avril Lavigne. At one gig Friends actress Lisa Kudrow appeared to sing ‘Smelly Cat’ with Swift, while a date in London saw Swift’s supermodel friends Cara Delevingne, Karlie Kloss and Gigi Hadid among the guests.

However, Rihanna does not see herself joining the list of people to appear with Swift. Speaking to NME for the cover feature of the all-new free magazine, distributed in more than 500 locations on Friday, September 18, Rihanna says: “I don’t think I would. I just don’t think it makes sense.”

She continues: “I don’t think our brands are the same, I don’t think they match, I don’t think our audiences are the same. In my mind she’s a role model, I’m completely not.”

As previously reported, Rihanna also told NME in the same interview that she is still working on her eighth album but promises she will deliver “something great” for fans. It has been three years since her last album release.
