Fans could be turned away at the gate for Robbie Williams’ two Glaswegian dates this weekend (September 1, 2) for having stolen tickets.
Police have warned that a total of 560 stolen tickets had been cancelled by the promoter of the gigs, which take place at Glasgow's Hampden Park, the Scottish National Stadium.
A police operation will be mounted at the turnstiles, and officers will be able to spot stolen tickets coming through.
The Herald reports that genuine purchasers did not get their tickets, and agents Ticketmaster and DF Concerts contacted the police.
Chief Superintendent Robin Howe, who will be head of security at the concert said: “It is likely that the tickets have been sold on to unsuspecting fans who will be hugely disappointed as these tickets have been withdrawn by the promoters and are no longer valid.
“It is believed that about 380 tickets for the Friday concert and about 180 for the Saturday, all originally destined for buyers in the Falkirk and Dunfermline areas, may have been stolen. All tickets are for the seated areas in the stands."
A spokesman for DF Concerts said: “We are extremely vocal in warning music fans not to buy tickets from unofficial outlets. These concerts sold out and any fans who have taken a risk here will be disappointed. We are working with the police very closely on this.”
An inquiry into the theft is under way.
