Robbie Williams has revealed that he and his wife Ayda Field are expecting their first child.

Williams, who is 38, announced the news with a bizarre blog on his website Robbiewilliams.com.

Written entirely in capitals and referring to himself as 'Roberto', Williams began by ensuring readers that he and Field had indeed 'had sex' and that 'it works'.

He wrote: "I've been keeping a secret from you all. Me and Ayda are going to be mummy and daddy this year. We had sex! It works! We've seen scans and cried. Looked at babies in commercials and teared up. The nursery is already planned."

He then went to say he ''can't wait to be a daddy'' and admitted, once again, that he'd got all teared up thinking about the prospect.

He wrote: "Basically I'm in love with a little person growing in mummy's belly. And can't wait to be a daddy. Crying now. Much love much joy."

Williams married Field in his house in Los Angeles in August 2010 after first meeting in 2006. He signed a new record deal with Universal in November 2011 and is currently working on his ninth solo album.
