Robbie Williams called Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw a "bastard" during a recent live appearance.

The incident came following the stations refusal to playlist Williams' recent single 'Candy', saying that the former Take That singer was too old for them to champion. Clearly not taking the snub in his stride, The Sun reports that Williams insulted Grimshaw from the stage during an appearance in London at the Sony Radio Acadamy Awards last night (May 13). Speaking to the audience, Williams said: "I did the Brits and started singing, 'Hey-ho, here we go' to a bunch of industry people and they were all just like, 'Fuck off, you're fat and you're old. And Radio 1 don't play you no more – you’re fat and you're old'."

He reportedly then spoke to Grimshaw and said: "Isn’t that right Nick, you bastard?" before returning to the DJ and TV presenter after performing 'Candy'. "That’s 'Candy'. How four-year-old do you want it, Radio 1?" he is reported to have said, before adding: "Those aren't drugs by the way. Nah, Radio 1's not something that keeps me up at night, not at all."

Ironically, Robbie Williams did recently return to the Radio 1 playlist alongside Dizzee Rascal on their new collaboration 'Goin' Crazy'. The somewhat surprising collaboration between the rapper and former boyband star was unveiled last week (May 10), with the track's official video seeing Dizzee and Robbie play out a Mods v Rockers scenario with Robbie as a Mod riding a scooter through the streets. Dizzee, meanwhile, travels on an OAP style-mobility scooter.
