The Take That singer recently said that he was "gutted" that he is deemed too old for the Radio 1 playlist. Last month Radio 1 music bosses admitted that they consider Williams, who is 39, to be too old to have his singles played on the station. They also revealed that Noel Gallagher's music is "more at home on Radio 2" and that Green Day's recent output has not been good enough to get played by the station.

Quizzed about the snub by BBC Radio 4, Williams conceded that it hurts him when the station don't promote his material. "I'm very ambitious," he told BBC Radio 4's Mastertapes programme. "So when Radio 1 goes and is taken away from you, a huge bit of your arsenal goes. It's your main oxygen to get your stuff out there."

Williams also said he is jealous of One Direction member Harry Styles, someone he describes as "talented and good looking," saying: "He could have it away. And I'll be sat here saying 'damn him'". "The former Take That member says he does not think he's alone in that feeling though, "Look at Paul McCartney, look at Elton John. They're jealous of Justin Timberlake. I'm sure they were jealous of me when I was in my imperial phase."

Previously,Robbie Williams called Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw a "bastard" during a live appearance following the stations refusal to playlist his song 'Candy'.
