Metallica man joins Rodrigo y Gabriela onstage in Chicago

Robert Trujillo from Metallica joined Rodrigo y Gabriela onstage at the Riviera Theatre in Chicago on Friday (October 16), playing one of his own band's songs with the duo.

Trujillo, who joined Metallica in 2003, genuflected before the duo after coming out from the wings to join them onstage.

The three then went on to indulge in a brief jam session before playing the Metallica song 'Orion', which you can watch below.

Though he'd apparently planned to go to the dentist that day, Trujillo, who had been in email contact with Rodrigo, decided to go to the gig instead.

After the show Rodrigo y Gabriela Tweeted: "Amazing show at Chicago. Robert Trujillo jammed with us on stage great fun and amazing guy he is!! Loved the crowd!!! Gracias !!!"

Rodrigo y Gabriela will now be touring the UK next month.
