AUSSIE RULES!

The TV favourite indulges in yet another curious collaboration...

Rolf Harris recently announced signing to legendary hip-hop label TOMMY BOY has thrown up another curious collaboration.

The septuagenarian, a perennial favourite on UK television screens, has worked on the track 'Fine Day' - described as 'big and trancey' - with Steve Lima of late '70s punk outfit The Members. The Members are best known for 1979 single 'Sound Of The Suburbs'.

Rolf is said to have been inspired to write the tune while driving home from a formal dinner, tuning into BBC Radio 1 and becoming intrigued by a "frantic beat".

Rolf's single will appear in late September through the Silver label imprint of Tommy Boy. It is the only track scheduled so far for release. A spokesperson told nme.com they have optioned further singles but no decisions have yet been made on whether or not these will appear.

Explaining the reasoning behind signing Rolf - who in the past has scored hits with 'Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport', 'Sun Arise' and most recently a cover of Led Zeppelin's 'Stairway To Heaven' - Tommy Boy MD Richard Chamberlain said: "It stands up as a great dance track in its own right and is a fantastic pop/dance record."
