An announcement on the revised European tour plans of The Rolling Stones is imminent after stricken guitarist Keith Richards said he was “feeling great”.

The 62-year-old's recent accident led to the postponement of The Stones' 'A Bigger Bang' jaunt, which was moved back from May until June.

Richards is now back at home in the US after a brain operation, which was necessary after he fell out of a palm tree while holidaying in Fiji last month. And his upturn in health means his band will be back on the road again soon.

A statement reads: “Keith Richards has arrived back home in the US from New Zealand. He is feeling great, happy to be home and looking forward to getting back on the road with The Rolling Stones next month. According to tour promoter, Michael Cohl, a revised tour itinerary will be announced shortly.”

Last week Jo Wood, wife of Richards' bandmate and fellow guitarist Ronnie, told the Evening Standard Richards was on the mend.

She said: "Yes, he had an accident but Keith's as strong as an ox, really he is. He'll bounce back. Keith always does.

"He's fine and the tour will continue - it just might have to restart a bit behind schedule, that's all."
