The Rolling Stones: live on the phone

Fans of The Rolling Stones can listen to performances from the band’s current tour live by phoning a specially set-up number.

The telephone technology will be put into action for the first time tonight (July 28) when the band play Stade de France in Paris.

Calls will cost $1.99 for seven minutes.

The band will be using this system for the entirety of the European leg of their A Bigger Band tour. The shows will not be taped and at the six-minute mark a voice will tell the callers their time is almost up, creating problems for possible pirate copies of the gigs to be made.

Rolling Stones tour manager Michael Cohl told Reuters: “It’s a great thing for the artists. It’s a passive income, and they’re helping fans enjoy the experience without affecting ticket sales.”

The Stones are the first band to use Listen Live Now technology, which can be accessed via the number 1 – 760- 438-0100.
