Rolling Stones clock up most successful tour of 2006

Madonna and Bon Jovi are runners-up

The Rolling Stones have clocked up the most successful tour of 2006, taking in $437 million dollars (£223 million) worldwide.

The figures come despite the band cancelling a series of shows following guitarist Keith Richards’ fall from a coconut tree earlier this year.

Madonna’s ‘Confessions’ tour came in at second place, clocking up $195 million profits (£100 million) for 60 shows, while Bon Jovi were third, with $131 (£67 million) profits from their most recent tour.

U2 came in fourth, taking in $96 million (£49 million) after wrapping up their 'Vertigo' tour.

Other acts who secured a slot in the top grossing tours in Billboard’s Boxscore were Tim McGraw/Faith Hill, Barbara Streisand, Kenny Chesney and Aerosmith.
