Royal Blood have scored the fastest-selling rock debut album in three years.

The Brighton duo released their eponymous debut LP on Monday (August 25) and sold nearly 66,000 copies in the first week. The figures make it the highest-selling rock debut since Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds' self-titled release in 2011, reports the Official Charts Company.

The band's Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher recently drew a huge crowd to the NME/BBC Radio 1 Stage when they performed at the Reading Festival, and have achieved similar feats at other festivals during the summer, including Glastonbury, as well as opening for Arctic Monkeys at their Finsbury Park gigs in May.

Elsewhere on the Official UK Albums Chart, folk-rock band Dry The River entered the Top 40 with their new album 'Alarms In The Heart' and Iggy Azalea's 'The New Classic' jumps up 49 places to Number 23 following her performance at the VMAs. Kate Bush, meanwhile, has eight albums in the Top 40.

Lilly Wood & Robin Schulz top the Official UK Singles Chart with their track 'Prayer In C', while Maroon 5's 'Maps' is close behind at Number Two. Taylor Swift's new single 'Shake It Off' features at Number Four. David Guetta ft Sam Martin, and Nico & Vinz make up the rest of the Top Five.
