TRUX BECOME UNCOUPLED

The band's label, Drag City, put the split down to "the usual complications (drugs, division of power etc)"...

ROYAL TRUX have called it a day after more than 10 years, co-founder NEIL HAGERTY has revealed.

The announcement came at a press conference in Japan last week, according to a news bulletin on the band's former label Drag City's website, www.dragcity.com.

Hagerty, a former Pussy Galore cohort of Jon Spencer, was speaking about his new solo album, 'Neil Michael Hagerty', when the subject came up. According to the report on the site, it "caused a bit of pandemonium" and "got pretty crazy", with female journalists crying and people asking where co-founder Jennifer Herrema was.

The split has been put down to "the usual complications (drugs, division of power etc)".

The band released their eponymous debut album on Drag City in 1988, and released a further seven albums, before their last outing on the label together, 'Pound For Pound', last year.

Hagerty is expected to announce a solo tour in support of his new solo effort, which is scheduled for release in the US on February 28. Two dates have already been announced, at Vincent's Ear, Asheville, N Carolina on March 21 and 22.

As yet there is no indication of what Herrema's plans are.
