Russell Brand in line for ‘Rentaghost’?

Comedian has been approached to spearhead the TV-to-film adaptation

Russell Brand has been approached to play the role of Fred Mumford in a movie update of ’80s British children’s TV show Rentaghost.

Variety magazine reports that Warner Bros have acquired the rights to the television series, which aired on the BBC between 1976 and 1984, and followed a company that rents out ghosts.

Studio officials are currently awaiting Brand‘s decision.

Brand will next make an appearance in an update of Shakespeare‘s The Tempest, as well as a forthcoming remake of Arthur.
