'...ROCK' STEADY

The comeback soul star becomes the second-biggest selling British artist in the US this year - just behind The Beatles...

SADE's comeback album 'LOVERS ROCK' has become the second-biggest selling album by a British artist in the US, despite being her first for eight years.

While The Beatles' '1' is well in front, currently topping the Billboard album chart with sales of 670,000, 'Lovers Rock' has racked up sales of over 370,000 in America.

Although for Sade sales in her native UK have been slow, despite the album being critically acclaimed, she has always had a strong presence Stateside, and has sold a total of over 40 million albums.

The follow-up single to her Top 20 comeback 'By Your Side' looks set to be the dub-inflected 'King Of Sorrow', which NMESOUL.COM understands is likely to be remixed by Gang Starr beatmiester DJ Premier.
