Sam Smith begins writing second album

Debut record 'In The Lonely Hour' was released in May

Sam Smith says he has begun writing his second album, just months after releasing his debut album 'In The Lonely Hour'.

Smith released his hugely successful debut in May of this year but, in a new interview with Digital Spy, says that he does not want to wait before getting on with its follow up.

"I think I will always be so scared on not doing this as a career, so the thought of just sitting back and enjoying the ride, and then late next year someone going, 'Right, now we need to do [a] second album,' and me not knowing what the fuck to do... I couldn't do that," he said.

"I did my first writing session a few weeks ago. I feel like I've already got a possible song, which I love. I've got a title, which I think I love," Smith added. "I don't know what I want to talk about yet, y'know. I'm not in a relationship, but I'm dating. But I don't know if I want to pressure myself to get into a relationship to write an album, so there's loads of options."

Meanwhile, Smith recently denied reports linking him to recording the next Bond theme. The solo singer was linked to the next Bond film last month but has distanced himself from the possibility of following in Adele's footsteps and recording a song for 007.

Speaking exclusively to NME regarding the rumour, Smith said "No, I have no idea what that was about and I know as much as you do. You probably know more than me; I didn't even read the article." He continued: "I think it's something everyone would love to do, but yeah, it was all news to me. I won't say any more on it."
