US rapper Riff Raff has called Sam Smith a "chubby little fuck factory" after the singer appeared to crop him out of a group picture taken at last month's MTV VMAs.

Riff Raff was Katy Perry's date for the awards ceremony when it was held on Sunday August 24. It was there that Smith had a group picture taken with Perry, Riff Raff and Charli XCX. However, the image he posted on Instagram showed an edited version minus the rapper.

Clearly upset that he had been cropped out of the picture by the British singer, Riff Raff tweeted Smith and wrote: "Thanks for cutting me out of the picture you chubby little fuck factory. PS Your face is super huge." Sam Smith has yet to respond to the comments.

Smith was among the performers at this year's VMAs, which were held in Los Angeles. Miley Cyrus won video of the year for 'Wrecking Ball' and sent homeless youth Jesse Helt up to accept her award in a bid to raise awareness of homelessness among young people in America.
